Finding. Mitochondrial RNA can leave the organelle and look like a virus. Hu, Lu and colleagues push it out with Abt-373 or vesicular stomatitis virus, through BAX/BAK and VDAC1, mtDNA coming along. In A549 cells the RNA talks to RIG-I, MDA5, TLR3/7/8, and PKR. It is m6A-methylated. The methylation machinery decides how long it sits in the cytosol and how it binds RIG-I, which decides the innate pulse.
Score 87. Pores, PRRs, an epitranscriptomic timer. High confidence for the in-vitro path.
